A punch recipe for a children’s luau party?
March 102010
My sister’s birthday party is tomorrow, and we’ve been planning and gathering stuff for the party for months, but tonight while making the last minute arrangements mom and I realized we’d completely forgotten about punch. Now, what she wants is something red, tropical-looking, and (obviously) non-alcoholic…the last thing we need is a bunch of drunk 12 and 13 year olds in a church fellowship hall.
4 quarts cold water
2 (12 ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup sugar
1 (2 liter) bottle red cream soda, chilled
In a large punch bowl or several pitchers, combine the water, concentrates and sugar; stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until chilled. Just before serving, stir in the cream soda.

Mix orange juice, ginger ale frozen strawberries and rainbow sherbert together in a large punch bowl…the proportions don’t really matter. For a grown-up version substitute champagne for the ginger ale.

Freeze a pineapple for the centerpiece – Sprite, Hawaiian Punch, and a splash of ginger-ale. Put lemon sorbet inside the pineapple and it will look and taste good.

I can pineapple juice, I pkg raspberry coolaide, 2 liters of lemon lime soda. To make a little fancier, add little bits of raspberry sherbet on top. (Mix the pineapple juice and coolaide any time. Add the soda and sherbet just before serving. Have Fun!
(You can do this with cranberry juice as well. If using cranberry juice, you can use gingerale instead of lemon lime type soda.)
