Read Hebrews the man made tabernacle was done away with , Christ being come a High Priest of good things to come , by a greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands , that is to say not made of this building, neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His Own Blood, He entered in Once into the Holy place , having obtained eternal redemption for us .if the blood of goats and bulls and ashes of a heifer sprinkled the unclean , sanctifieth to the purifying of flesh , how much more the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit , offered Himself without spot to God , purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God ? and for this cause He is the mediator of the New Testament .(Hebrews 9:11-15)

WE are to Fellowship with Christ , Him being the chief cornerstone .

To follow a man tradition and set custom is not scriptural

Everyone likes someone to talk to especially about the Bible . But just going to a building where everyone Claims to be something , can be just as damaging as it is good.

Go where God sends you , even if its Alone , with Him .

Obey God , and Not mans ideas !!

Everyone quotes Hebrews 10:25 However the assembling isnt with just anyone . If everyone would take the Bible as a whole and instead of basing what they want in one scripture Everyone would be better off . So with that said the assembly is in Hebrews 12 : 22-29 , and if you read what and whom the General assembly is , you will see its not your local building !!!!

God says to gather together with other believers. That place is usually church. If believers get together OUTSIDE of church, that would be great, but I have YET to see many Christians do that on a regular basis, unless two people are really close friends and work together. (Working together usually creates great friendships).

Making friends with other Christians can strengthen the relationship with God, especially if both people are saved and believe the same thing.

The only down side to this is having a very very closed mind and ONLY seeing things through the Bible.

I know someone like that and she loves to preach to me. I don’t need that. I have my Bible. I have the Holy Spirit to convict me!

What I don’t get is when the Bible states to encourage one another as you see the day approaching. Many Chrisitans (in the past) have done nothing but preach to me against any sin they think I did or have done. Instead of encouraging me in the Lord, the cut me down. Perhaps they do realize what they are doing or saying? I don’t know. But that is the one things that makes people stay away from Christianity.

I refuse to be like that. I like to use difference lenses-Not JUST the Bible. Of course in THIS catergory, on this site, you WILL see me answer according to the Bible, since that is what this category is for–religion and spirituality.

God states to get knowledge and to get understanding, so He is for getting an education.

ok. it is said in the bible that one person prays and chase 1000 curses for himself and two people would chase 5000 curses for the 2 of them (not 2000), so basically, if u do the math, it’s better to pray in group. u would reap more benefits.

First, you mentioned reading scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so I assume that you are of the belief that ALL scripture is used for "teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." 2 Tim 3:16.

If so, then at least one reason to attend church is that God wants us to:

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb 10:25

God wants us to encourage one another.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 2:43

While "just" fellowship may seem trivial to us, it is clearly important to God as he puts it as a cornerstone of importance for believers. He places fellowship on equal ground with discipleship, communion, and prayer. This makes it clear that God finds it important.

Lastly, but certainly not least (and there are MANY more reasons that church attendance is important, but the longer the answer, the fewer the readers), the Church is the "Body". Each of us has been given a gift some apsotles, some teachers, healers, administrators, helpers, etc. Not everyone was given every gift, so as we are each a "part" of the body, not the entire body, we MUST be together to function as God intended.

"But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other." 1 Corinth. 12:24b-25 (for all 12:7-31)

So, if you are feeling a desire to congregate, it is likely God’s influence speaking to your heart.

While it is true we are to fellowship with God, His commands for us are not to be alone. We have purpose in this life, he did not create us to wander around aimlessly. We are to love God above all else, but he did not leave it at that. We are to love others and to give witness of the good news of the Gospel. Keeping our knowledge and relationship to ourselves is as useless as the the servant that buried the talents in the sand (see Matthew 25:13-30). While some would like to argue over Hebrews and "who" we should fellowship with, I would like to add that Jesus ate with sinners and reminded His disciples that "it is not the sick that needs a doctor." Jesus on His time here on earth, was a model for how we are to behave. The bottom line is that he went into the Synagogues, taught the masses, healed the sick, and had fellowship with his disciples, other believers, and even sinners. Excluding the other reasons (including those above) that God gives us for being with other believers. Can we do these things without going to a traditional "church" building? Maybe, but few of us do.

It is necessary to attend churches/congregations that sincerely worship God. But be careful – you may wind up with some group which pursues a wrong theology.
