Why or why not?

We need to understand the concept of church so that we can proceed with our search of finding a church. Christ created a church with leaders to administrate it. Christ did not create denominations, as these are man made. The Seventh-day Church was started by the James and Ellen White, Joseph Bates. Jehovah’s Witnesses by Charles Taze Russell, Latter Day Saints by Joseph Smith, Christian Scientist by Mary Baker Eddy, Lutherans by Martin Luther, and etc.

If you are looking for "the perfect church" or "the true church" you might as well stop right here, because you will not find one that totally teaches the Word as YOU understand it.

There is no such thing as a "true church" or "remnant church" taught in the Bible. Many denominations teach these non-biblical teachings to get other people, Christians and non-Christians into their fold. After all you do not want to be a member of a church if it is not "the true church"?

It is churches such as the SDA, Jehovah’s Witness, Latter Day Saints, Catholics, and such that have confused its members by proclaiming that they are the true church. So when a person leaves those churches they look for a "true church." There is not a true church in the world. There are however true Christians that differ in their doctrinal beliefs. In fact the N T Churches had problems agreeing on doctrines. Belonging to a church does not save us we are saved by belonging to Christ. The church is not our savior, nor mediator between its members and God.

Christ established a church on earth for the purpose of evangelism, Bible study, fellowship, encouragement, prayer, and etc. The church was never to replace the Holy Spirit in leading people to the truth of God’s word. In fact the church throughout history has persecuted its members for taking a path that was not according to their creeds, when they were attempting to follow the word, as they understood it. Churches have separated Christians because of their creeds.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, I am the way the truth and the life. Not a certain denomination or an organization. Either of which claim to be the "true Church" or The "only way" is the first lie. We are Christian, not Pentecostal, Lutherans, Catholic, SDA, Jehovah’s Witness or Latter Day Saints. These all separate us from Jesus. I am not advocating not going to Church. In fact, "GO" to Church. The truth is not in an organization, it’s not in a denomination, it’s not in a building called a church or a hall but, as Jesus says, I am the way the truth and the life.

John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive

Denominationalism not only separates us from the True Jesus Christ of the Bible who is Our Creator but it also separates us from one another. Regardless of what someone desires to label themselves God told us in the Word that we have brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus because we share One Faith, One Spirit….

Ephesians 4:4-6, "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

There is a uniformity and union among the cults and false religions. This is satan’s mockery of the true Unity that is only found through the Spirit of Christ Jesus our Lord when we come to Him.

All believers in Christ Jesus make up the Church body. We are the Bride. It is NOT about an external group it is about those who are numbered by God and called His very own children.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16 explains this so well.

You may reconsider the "traditonal" interpretation of this verse with the understanding that all believers in Christ Jesus make up His Body:

1 Corinthians 11:29, "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body."

We must come to the Lord’s Supper able to discern who is part of the Body of Christ Jesus.

This is my prayer for all believers in Christ Jesus our Lord:
Ephesians 1:17-23, "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."

Jesus is the Head of the Church which is His Body (we are member of His Body! The Church!) and His Spirit filleth (continues to fill) all!

Why is this distinction important? Why is denominationalism the way of separateness?
Because God calls us to Unity as a witness of Our Faith:

Ephesians 4:13, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

I know that Seventh-day Adventist believe in Jesus Christ. I know that SDA’s believe that Jesus is God. You believe in the Trinity, Baptism, Communion and the second return of Christ. Nobody should refer to you as a cult given your clear doctrinal beliefs about Christ.

So I would definitely like to hear the SDAs side of this.I’ve heard other people say this too.

The reason I really want to know is because I have attended different Christian churches and I believe that the Seventh-Day Adventist church is the one that follows the Bible the most accurately and has gotten rid of the man-made traditions that many churches have adopted. SDA’s, do you believe that you are the only true church today? Do you have the same mentality as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Church of Christ and some Roman Catholics. Are you free to fellowship with other Christians? Do you allow other denominations to visit your Church for worship and fellowship? All of the SDAs I have met have been really nice and seem like great people, so it’s hard to believe that they’d really hate another denomination.

Why do other Christian denominations call SDA’s a cult? I personally don’t believe Seventh-day Adventists are a Cult. Anyone who holds such an extreme position is ignorant and has failed to give deeper study to Adventist beliefs.

I have never been quite sure of that myself. I was raised in the Lutheran church and over time, etc. Bible study, logic and common sense lead me to the 7th Day Adventist Church.

Was basically vegetarian with my girls who are ADHD, a healthy diet improved their health.

The other church’s you mention> I have attended them in my search and found them to be "clicky" like jr high girls and judgmental, etc. We/SDA visit and fellowship with everyone and all are welcome to come in and visit/worship with us. Door is always open.

There is no hate toward other denominations; there might be some rolling of the eyes over some strange/funny ideas.

My personal side of laughter comes from the TV/TBN groups with their Vegas style of doing things and the 5 lbs of make up with pink hair!!

The healthy eating, keeping Sabbath is simple common sense that is found in The Bible; there is no need for some Phd to ramble on for hrs pounding on the pulpit and giving incorrect theology.

We are a family when everyone comes for worship on Sabbath, that is not the case in other church’s.

Many people complain regarding Ellen White; have they read anything about her? Not the opinion of some web site, etc.

Got to the estate web site and read about who she was.

G_d does no great thing without first informing his chosen, the prophets. We are told that in the end times there will be dreamers of dreams, our children will prophesy and give testimony. We are told to beware of false teachers and false prophets which indicates that with such false ones there will be true prophets.

The book of Deuteronomy in the Bible has the test of the prophets that a person can clearly read and understand who is a true prophet and a false one.

Reading of/ about joesph smith/LDS and that russell /JW and a number of others that are/where clearly false and screwballs…(heavens gate, jim jones, david koresh)

———————————————————–

More than 100 people of different Christian denominations gathered under the gazebo at Pioneer Park [St George UT] on Jan. 1 for the fourth annual Prayer over the City.

Local religious leaders prayed for public safety officials, U.S. military personnel, government, children, and families for 2009.

Jimi Kestin, pastor for Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship, spread a message of love without conditions.

"We are putting aside the religious beliefs that separate us to set the tone for 2009," Kestin said.

Kestin organizes the prayer every year, he said, to give people an opportunity to thank God for the positive events in the previous year and ask for His blessing for the new year.

"We do this to start the year acknowledging our prosperity, health and protection is in God’s hands," Kestin said

Before other religious leaders led prayers over the city, Mayor Dan McArthur lead the group in singing "Are you from Dixie." He then recited a poem about building bridges.

"I agree we’re all here to build bridges for the better," he said.

The Rev. Eleazar Silva of the St. George Catholic Church gave a traditional blessing for the new year.

"We ask God to be with us in this new year and for the Lord to give us his grace to do good," Silva said.

Tom Lamb, chairman of the Southern Utah Public Affairs Council for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, lead the group in prayer for spiritual and economic prosperity.

Lamb prayed for all people to have the resources necessary to survive, and expressed gratitude for the pioneers who settled the sunny region he now calls home.
——————————–

Is this good and commendable idea, or should the in-fighting continue?

There are so many that claim to follow Jesus.
Few do.

The Bible holds a written history of God’s people mixing with the world.
Time and time again
God hates it.

There is only one God, one faith, one lord.

I have not gone to Church for various reasons in over a year. I am a saved Christian 5 years. I had gone to Church for several years, but just had some problems and left. I worship SEVEN days a week from home. I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which is what I think really matters…not going to Church once or twice a week and fellowshipping. The Church is ‘just’ a building. I know I need to be ‘fed’ and guided along in the Scriptures…I can’t do it all myself, and I admit at times I find the Bible hard to understand and would like guidance. I usually go online for commentaries in those situations. I know going to Church is not one of the 10 commandments, but I believe somewhere, I think it may be in Hebrews, God ‘commands’ us to go to Church and fellowship. The Sabbath day or Lord’s Day should be Saturday and not Sunday but that’s all Pagan and I am not really concerned with that, although it does bother me at times. I have had some problems with Satan and spiritual warfare and the like and going to Church would probably help me in this area, than not going to Church. Satan doesn’t want to see me going to Church obviously. I am sure he is very happy I haven’t been going. So I am conflicted…one part of me wants to resume going again…another part of me says it’s not ‘necessary’ and I can ‘do it on my own’. I would like to hear some opinions, and arguments pro and con for going or not going to Church on a regular basis if you are a saved baptized Christian.(I would be going to a Pentecostal Church, just fyi)

Well for me I did the same not going to church for almost 3 months? my reason is my faith is still in God, which really matters is I’m in God’s presence whenever or wherever I go. Nevertheless we can’t deny that we need the church for spiritual feeding because we cannot understand all that is written in the scripture, so we need the preachers/pastors/bible teachers.

About the 10 Commandments, yes it’s for the Hebrews, but we Christians are encourage to do the same what is says in the 10 commandments for "spiritual feeding day" (i call it that way). In some reasons going to church really benefits us Christians such as, understanding God’s word that we cannot understand by means of our preacher, we are away from the evil world although sometimes we still attempt by Satan inside the church, our church members somehow was a great gift from God to guide us to avoid sinning and directing us to the right, fellowship do the same. Going to church help us to be matured (live to be a real Christian, a God’s child, you know what that means) and specially grow Christly! and many to mention…

I myself don’t go to church in a regular basis, if you are observant you can observe that some people in the church are "hypocrites", why I say so, look and observe how they live, how they talk, how they act, yes all of that are physical but remember that says, if you are a real Christian "what is inside appears outside", you can hide them for a while but not all the time, their un-Christly heart. But guess what of course who are the so called "most out of the church"? The evils! take note, most not all! How they can be Christ Like if they do not even know God?

Maybe you are asking if how the people at the mountains would know God? specially if their is no no no church at all at the very very very far place. How will they praise God in the church if their is no church? Well in that case you need to go to your "church" and ask your "church". As is, you ask the "church" !!!! The "church" and the whole "church" maybe can answer you for this question!

You said, "The Church is ‘just’ a building?" Sorry for that, but your wrong! Directly answered. Some people, sad for the Christians, don’t know about the "church" is not a building! We Christians live in a biblical principle, we understand words biblically and not for humans perspective only or interpretation.

"Church" means "congregation", "an assembly", "called-out-ones", "body of people", specifically "group of Christians"….that is…church, not talking of a building but of "God’s children".

Please feel free to visit this link:
http://www.gotquestions.org/what-is-the-church.html

(If the link is not working, copy and paste the URL to your browser to view the site)

This will help you to understand or if you have question about the "church".

Now, not going to church is not sinful, but it is sinful that we have a wrong understanding in biblical words because as God’s child we are responsible to spread the words with all understanding. How can we do that? Going to "church" and walk with them, talk with them and understand God’s word with them.

Why not come to church and find out for yourself? There are friendly Christian congregations everywhere!

Going to church doesn’t hurt a bit; in fact it feels great! Independent studies have shown that regular church attendance actually boosts people’s physical, mental, and emotional health.

Church isn’t about judging others; it’s about worshiping and learning more about God. We ALL sin, so no one is "better" than anyone else. But Jesus Christ, who never sinned, came to earth to save us from damnation by taking our penalty on Himself. He gave up His life and rose again three days later to accomplish God’s great purpose of salvation for all mankind!

Is there a catch? Yes, a small one–each one of us needs to ACCEPT God’s gift of salvation in Jesus Christ; He doesn’t make that decision for us!

A church fellowship is also about building strong communities, connecting with neighbors, and making new friends. In addition to the familiar Sunday-morning worship and children’s programs, many churches offer worship services at other days and times, Bible-study groups, youth activities, community service, volunteer opportunities, outreach programs, and other ministries throughout the week.

If you’ve been to church before and thought Christianity wasn’t for you, please keep on trying. You may need to visit several churches before you find the right one for you. Ask God to guide you;He will! The key is NEVER to give up. True peace, joy, freedom, love, happiness, fulfillment and eternal life are like rare and precious jewels. It takes patience and persistence to gain them, but they’re worth the effort!

Won’t you join us this Sunday? We’ll be happy to see you, and more importantly, you’ll be pleasing Someone who already knows and loves you!

God bless!
@ spartan2012: Gee, what big words! However, you wanted ‘led’ instead of ‘lead,’ and, uh, what’s the difference between a beast and an animal?

@Alexander: If you stay in prayer God will lead you to the truth–and you’ll like it.

@Woodstock: Those are the words that God gave me.

Thanks, I already know about it first-hand; and although your hospitality seems genuine, I know what strings are attached to it.

I spent a long time on the air with this caller from the Christian church explaining why we, the Danville church of Christ, do not extent fellowship to the Christian church. The issue of mechanical instruments of music is simply one manifestation of the real root of the problem, disregard for biblical authority.
