I dont attend Church. All the churches I have attended are full of hypocrites, and pastors that choose to preach about what you should not do, and make examples out of people who openly sin, and ignore their own sins, prefering to preach their own perfection.

God ordained church for growth and fellowship, yet it is impossible to find those things in modern church. Instead, I fellowship and grow through Bible study, friends with like views, discussion, and prayer. Does this mean my faith is in question because church offers so little to a Christian nowadays, that I have looked elsewhere for God original intention of church?

I WOULD attend if I found a church that welcomed all people, and taught the Bible and ALL its teachings, and not just what suited the purpose for church growth.

JESUS WENT INTO THE CHURCHES IN ANCIENT TIMES TO CALL PEOPLE OUT OF THE CHURCH. "BUILDINGS YOU REFER TO AS CHURCH" TO WORSHIP IN TRUTH. CHURCH IS WHERE 2 OR MORE ARE GATHERED IN HIS NAME. NOT IN A BUILDING MADE OF STONES.THE SAME IS TRUE TODAY AS THEN , IT HASNT CHANGED, IF HE WERE HERE NOW HE,D WALK IN TELL THE MINISTERS THEY HAVE PROBLEMS AND CALL THE PEOPLE OUT TO FOLLOW HIM.

How do you grow a 3 year old church of 40 regular attendees without modifying doctrine or practice?

March 202010

I will accept answers from the spiritual to the practical…

-Pastor has stated that he could handle up to 200 members.

-Reformed Presbyterian/Calvinist, affiliated with larger denomination.

-1 full time pastor

-Church is located in an urban area in the midwest. "rents" space from another church.

-Meets twice on Sunday for worship, once on Wednesday for Bible study.

-Regular monthly fellowships (3-4 times a month)

-Majority white/families, people of all ages

-online weekly newsletters

-quarterly print newsletters

-sermons downloaded to popular sermon website

-no radio ministry

-denomination frowns upon TV ministry

-revenue of $116,000 through contributions/grants

Marketing, marketing, marketing! In no particular order, here’s some of what I thought…

1. Invite-a-friend campaigns…my church hands out business card-sized invitations to a special message (or message series) from time to time to all the members…we’re challenged to give the card to someone we meet that week.

2. Signage — visibility is important for most "retail" businesses…more so for a church since new people in town often look for churches while they are driving around. Since you rent from another church, this may be a challenge esp. if you don’t have access to their existing signage. Get creative…rent a portable sign and use creative messages to get attention…use colorful banners hung beneath the existing sign (or wherever the other church will allow)…and what about the possibility of a billboard?

3. Web site — if you don’t have a site, create one…even a simple one-page "flyer-type" site is enough to start. Design it with appropriate key words so people looking for a local church can find it. I saw a study once that said as much as 70% of the searches on Google were "local" (meaning they included the name of a specific town). For example, if you lived in Tulsa, you would want to make sure the word "Tulsa" and the word "church" appeared on your site as many times as reasonable…copyright notice on every page…you can even add it to the name of the church (e.g., "First Church of Tulsa" would come up high on the list for people searching for "church" and "Tulsa").

4. Yellow pages (including online listings)…many people look for churches in the yellow pages both before and after moving to a new location.

I could keep going but this answer is already too long *smile*…it all comes down to offering people something they are seeking and then finding creative ways to make people aware of you!

Did you grow up in small town U.S.A. ???

March 202010

There is a lot to be said for growing up in a small town in Texas. The service itself was impressive with wonderful flowers and sprays, a portrait of James, his uniform and boots, his awards and ribbons. There was lots of military brass and an eloquent (though inappropriately longwinded) Baptist preacher. There were easily 1000 people at the service, filling the church sanctuary as well as the fellowship hall and spilling out into the parking lot.

However, the most incredible thing was what happened following the service on the way to the cemetery. We went to our cars and drove to the cemetery escorted by at least 10 police cars with lights flashing and some other emergency vehicles, with Texas Rangers handling traffic. Everyone on the road who was not in the procession, pulled over, got out of their cars, and stood silently and respectfully, some put their hands over their hearts.
When we turned off the highway suddenly there were teenage boys along both sides of the street about every 20 feet or so, all holding large American flags on long flag poles, and again with their hands on their hearts. We thought at first it was the Boy Scouts or 4H club or something, but it continued …. for two and a half miles. Hundreds of young people, standing silently on the side of the road with flags. At one point we passed an elementary school, and all the children were outside, shoulder to shoulder holding flags . kindergartners, handicapped, teachers, staff, everyone. Some held signs of love and support. Then came teenage girls and younger boys, all holding flags. Then adults. Then families. All standing silently on the side of the road. No one spoke, not even the very young children.
The military presence..at least two generals, a fist full of colonels, and representatives from every branch of the service, plus the color guard which attended James, and some who served with him … was very impressive and respectful, but the love and pride from this community who had lost one of their own was the most amazing thing I’ve ever been privileged to witness

Yes, I grew up in a small town in the South.

And, yes, I became an English teacher, and I do indeed recognize what you have written as a beautiful and moving piece of prose.

And, yes, I would like to see more of that kind of writing from you. But I’ve had to be very patient to find it.

And, yes, I’m glad James and his family received the respect they deserve, and I hope that his wife and child receive not only sympathy, but continuing support from all Americans.

And, yes, I’m very glad that that homophobic church that’s staging protests at the funerals of some of our loyal troops failed to make it to this small town in Texas.

And, yes, I know that there will be "wars and wars and rumors of wars," time without end. And I know the USA will always have to defend itself and its freedoms–our way of life. And I hope we always honor and respect those who choose the military for whatever reason. In this age, they will always be needed.

And, yes, I hope you can hear all of this from me, an old-fashioned Eisenhower Republican who thinks of himself as a moderate and an evangelical Christian but is often labeled "a *** liberal." Even though we may disagree on the wisdom of this war and the decisions of the Pentagon in how it was waged, I hope you can hear me. Even though you may not understand why I am so desperately fearful of what is happening to this country under this administration, I hope you can still hear me.

Yes, I grew up in a small town. I learned to say the "play-jaleejance" in the first grade, long before I knew what it meant and before "under God" was added to it. I took great pride as a youngster when I was chosen to raise the flag on the school grounds in the morning and retrieve it if we saw a rain shower coming up and before we left the school and darkness descended. I was one of those 4-Hers who, at the beginning of every meeting, pledged head, heart, hands, and health "for my club, my community, and my country," before "my world" was so wisely added to the end of that list. I grew up in a Christian family (fundamentalists, we would be called these days), attended a Christian school, married a Christian woman, and raised a Christian family (though I also raised them to be independent thinkers, and now they all have their own deeply held interpretations of what Christ stood for and what the Bible means). And, yes, I still consider myself a small-town Christian, and I have asked that my ashes be buried in a little cemetery not too very far from where I was born and my kinfolk lie.

Yes, I salute the memory of James. And I salute you for describing his memorial so gracefully.

Yes, I am what is called a "senior citizen" now. And, yes, I hope my children enjoy the blessings I have enjoyed during my long life, and I hope that they inherit the "free" country that I inherited with the reforms of the 20th century that gave common folk like me the opportunity to succeed in the way that I did.

And, yes, I admit that I am fearful about the future, but I hope and pray that James’s child (and perhaps your children, if you have them) and my grandchildren may inherit this "free" and safe country.

God bless us everyone!

The Late Bishop Nathaniel Gamble Sr. The Church of God & TrueHoliness 16th Annual Feast

March 202010

The Bishop preached an awesome message! And I saw the dead small and great, stand before God; and books were opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which was written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire!

Bishop Gamble did his work while his life remained in the earth. His many, many seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years are in the book! Our works are in the books as well. Let’s continue to keep the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. And let us run this race with patience and don’t change from living a life that God is pleased with! Remember this……….If the Good man of the house had known in what watch the theif would come, he would have watched and had not suffered his house to have been broken up! So watch! For no man knoweth the day, nor the hour wherein the son of man cometh!

Pastors Arrested In Baltimore Murder

March 202010

From the outside, James Omar Clea appears to be a God loving man. Clea posted sermons from Bishop Allen Simmons in his My Space page. He writes in his bio that he spoke in tongues by 13, and was called to preach at fifteen. He neglected to mention his conviction in 2008- to armed robbery.

Today he is still listed as an Elder for Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries. Today he is also under arrest for allegedly participating in the murder for hire of a disabled and blind man Lemuel Wallace.

Clea is the second pastor arrested in connection with Wallaces murder. Pastor Kevin Pushia has been charged with assault and murder. An ABC2 investigation into Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries raises more questions than answers.

Most of phone numbers listed as Elders and Presiding Elders were disconnected. ABC2 News has left messages for Bishop Allen Simmons, who appears to be the leader of this church. We have yet to receive a response.

Witchcraft in the church

March 202010

The true church of God is the body of Christ, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The majority of church organizations and ministries practice witchcraft to control members.

The true church is the body of Christ, the temple of the Holy Spirit which consists of living bricks, disciples of Jesus Christ, operating under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The institutional church is an organization consisting of members who support the doctrines and objectives of the organization. The organization appoints leadership according to its own requirements. The institutional church is not part of the true church, the body of Christ.

Some members of the institutional church may be true disciples of Jesus Christ. I will forthwith refer to the institutional church as the church. Most ministries are also church. The main objective of church is to ensure growth in membership and income to support the livelihood of the institution and its leadership.

The church uses spiritual and scriptural witchcraft to cast spells over believers, to make them slaves of church and the leadership. Members are deceived into believing that the church has redeeming powers and offers them eternal salvation. This deception is supported with the Bible and often through prophecy.

Favorite scriptures are those relating to money and attendance. Members are compelled to tithe, 10% of their income and also to sow money into the kingdom. Many promise that God will multiply the seed in prosperity to those who sow the seed. The only ones who benefit are the robbers that run the church. Micah 3:5 talks about these:
Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; When they have something to bite with their teeth, They cry, Peace, But against him who puts nothing in their mouths they declare holy war.
Amongst these are the prosperity preachers who tell you God wants to make you rich. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, deliver us from the bondage of sin so we can live holy and be children of God. He did not come to make us rich.

Other more spiritual churches use prophecy as well to manipulate and control those whom they ensnare. They quote scriptures relating to curses from God on those who do not follow the appointed anointed leadership. They also announce curses on those who oppose them. Their captives live in continuous fear of the leadership who make them believe that they are the direct oracles of God. They are witches and sorcerers, demons posing as angels of light.

Some of the spiritual churches propose certain exclusive excellencies , like the Hebrew names of Jesus, the Sabbath and spiritual revelations. These do not bring people closer to Jesus but rather serve as unfruitful distractions away from obedience to Christ.

All churches have one thing in common they do not bring people closer to Jesus. They cast spells over people and control them for their own benefit. People believe they are saved because they belong to a church, pay their dues to the church and attend the spiritistic séance. They worship at church but they live like everybody else. They are still sinners because all those who belong to church are sinners, they have not been delivered by Jesus, they never repented of sin. The church is an instrument of satan. It does not bring people to repentance from sin and into a relationship with Jesus.

The body of Christ, the true church does not have hours of service but are indwelled by His Spirit, focused on the Master, always listening to the Shepherds voice. The true church is in constant fellowship with the Head, Jesus Christ, and has daily fellowship with other members of the body of Christ. They do not wait for an occasion but come together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. They do not tithe to the church but provide in the needs of the saints, other members of the body, they also care for the widows and orphans. They love each other with the love of Christ and demonstrate it through their actions.

Do you belong to a church or to the body of Christ?
It is not a sin to belong to a church but it does not bring you closer to Jesus. It is a distraction that can cost you eternity. Either you are a disciple of Christ and part of His Body or you are a deceived man pleaser.
